I canvass the food blogs so you don’t have to. Here are some highlights:

Pera joins the herd with its recession special: $39 for a bottle of wine and choice of 3 meze.

Rioja Restaurant Week is coming to your ‘hood; click here for a list of participating restaurants. If you don’t know your Riojas from your Rieslings or your Red Stripes, then you should definitely check it out.

Spice of Astor Place opens; as usual NY Mag’s Grub Street is all over it. Photos and slideshow here.

Artisanal’s Grilled Cheese contest ends tomorrow; hurry up and enter so that when you win, you can take me to dinner and give me that basket of cheese, thanks.

Win tickets to Eleven Madison Park’s Kentucky Derby Hoedown May 2, from 3 to 7pm. Since the highlights include mint juleps, I highly suggest entering this one also. Details here.

This week’s breathlessly hyped bar: a tequila-flavored concoction from Death & Co’s Phil Ward, called Mayahuel. With Urban Daddy, Grub Street, and Eater all riled up over it, you should have no problem getting the 411. See herehere and here

Looking for a new watering hole this weekend? Check out The Clerkenwell, which opened on Tuesday. It does a nice little late night menu after 11pm – and is open until 4am for all you rabble-rousers.
